Seremban is formerly called Sungai Ujong which is established around 1840. The density of population started to concentrate around Linggi River when tin was found at that time. The local areas were also a spots for rubber plantation and estate. As time passed, commercial activities have been thriving. The development of Seremban has been increasing tremendously when railways connecting Kuala Lumpur and Singapore was built around 1890. Later in 1924, the first railway station was built and named Seremban Railway Station.

This brings Seremban one step further in development. It is said that the name 'Seremban' came from the word 'Serimban', a traditional game commonly played by the kids around Seremban Railway Station. You can easily reach Seremban either by road or by train. The North-South Highway (Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan PLUS) connects the city to the other main cities of Malaysia. It would take around an hour to arrive from Kuala Lumpur by bus, and around 4-5 hours from Johor Bahru. Seremban is also connected to the main road, making it easier to reach other parts of Negeri Sembilan as well. A train is also a good option for reaching Seremban. It would only takes around 90 minutes from Kuala Lumpur, and with the convenient KTM Commuter system.
